Wed 20 January 2016, 18:00 – 19:00 GMT
St. Agnes' Eve—Ah, bitter chill it was!
The owl, for all his feathers, was a-cold;
It's St Agnes' Eve on 20 January. Celebrate John Keats's famous poem The Eve of St Agnes at Guildhall Art Gallery. Enjoy a private view of the painting by William Holman Hunt that Keats's tale inspired, and listen to extracts of the poem read by poets including Jo Shapcott, Michael Rosen, Eva Salzman and Simon Mole, with an introduction by Keats biographer Nicholas Roe and John Hegley summoning Porphyro's lute.
Plus a winning poem from the Young Poets Network, inspired by Porphyro's banquet.
A Keats Foundation event in association with Keats House and The Poetry Society
NOTE: This event has been fully booked but we've managed to fit in some extra spaces. If you book a 'waiting list' or 'extra space' ticket you will get in to this evening's event.
