St Ann's Hospice Does The Tour de Manc
Tour de Manc – An epic cycle ride around Greater Manchester (100miles or 100km).
Welcome to the Tour de Manc. Our plan is to raise vital funds for St Ann's Hospice, whilst you cycle around Greater Manchester, challenging yourself and seeing Manchester’s best views.
You will leave in groups of 10 riders from The Lancashire Health & Racquets Club in Heywood at 0730, after a hot drink and registration. Then you will cycle out of the venue heading South East to complete an epic anti-clockwise cycle around Greater Manchester. You have the choice of tackling a challenging 100 miles or a slightly less challenging 100km. Whichever route you take, you can expect a brilliant ride and one that you will ceratinly enjoy! Expect varied terrain as you skirt Manchester, cross Cheshire, skirt the edge of the Peak District, the slopes of the Pennines and the rolling hills of North Manchester. Expect to see some amazing scenery and hidden gems and enjoy great comradery.
Don't forget, you will need to bring your puncture repair kit, have a bike capable of the distance and bring your own supply of energy drinks and food to get you to the first stop. We will supply free drink and food at our stops and we will have mechanic and medical cover just in case. It's a long day. And post ride, we will have free tea, baked goods and complementary massages to help with your weary legs. You can have a steam, sauna, jacuzzi and shower afterwards. And whilst you ride, your family can be our guests at the club.
There will be a prize for the King & Queen of the mountain and all finishers will receive a beautiful medal.
To celebrate the event, we are producing a Tour de Manc cycling jersey. The jersey is manufactured using hi-tech, high-quality materials and is custom designed for this specific event. We have designed and are manufacturing these Jerseys in Greater Manchester and are only producing a very limited number of them. The jerseys will make a great momento of your ride and will capture the spirit of Mancunian humour and has a touch of class. There’s nowt like it !
When you book your ticket using the link above dont forget to add your Jersey to the basket.
You will be raising money for St Ann's Hospice through your own sponsorship efforts. Please raise as much as you can as these funds are vital to support Greater Manchester's largest Hospice. St Ann's Hospice also get a proportion of your ticket fee.
In addition, two great causes will share all the rest of Tour de Manc's surplus: they are (1) the HaTS charity, supporting cancer patients (and their families) at The Christie Hospital’s Haematology and Transplant Unit and (2) Forever Manchester, funding and supporting thousands of community projects across Greater Manchester.
Last years ride sold out within a few weeks of going live, so don't delay, book your ticket today and get training!
We had great feedback from last year's ride gave an approval rating of over 87% almost everyone who rode said they would ride again in 2017. We hope you can join us!
