St Edmund's Church and the Montagu Monuments Summer Arts Festival

St Edmund's Church is the home of the Montagu Monuments. Four stunning Georgian statues which commemorate the lives of 3 generations of the Montagu family from Boughton House. The world class statues were created by renowned artists of the day. Artists that created these works are also on show at national venues such as Westminster Abbey and the Victoria and Albert Museum to name a few.
The arts festival has been supported by Heritage Lottery Fund and debbie&andrew's 'bangers and cash' micro
sponsorship, in order to raise money to contribute to the upkeep of the Montagu Monuments. Please see below a list of events:-
Thursday 15 June 2017 10:00-12:00, 15:30-17:30 Guided Tours of the Montagu Monuments. Join our friedndly helpful guides as they share the splendor and stories of the Montagu Monuments. Tours of the Monuments are free with a suggested donation of £5 per person.
Friday 16 June 2017 19:30-21:00 An Evening of Song. Local choirs will entertain with an evening of song in the beautiful surrondings of the church. Light refreshments provided. Seating unreserved, some views are restricted.Tickets £10
Saturday 17 June 2017 10:00-12:00 Arts Masterclass with Lyn Hewiston. A chance to study and explore the beautiful Montagu Monuments with a masterclass in art with Lyn Hewitson, Artist in Residence at Kettering Buccleuch Academy. Tea, coffee and biscuits included £15
Saturday 17 June 2017 14:00-16:00 Church Monuments Society Talk by Dr Clive Easter - Join us to celebrate the Montagu Monuments Guidebook winning the National award for Best Monuments Guidebook. The event will include a 30mins talk on Roubiliac the artist responsible for creating John 2nd Duke and Mary 2nd Duchess of Montagus' Monuments. Free
Sunday 18 June 2017 13:00-15:00 Steam, Sausages and Spoken Word. Join us in the field adjacent to the church to enjoy an afternoon of family fun. There will be big games such as jenga, a steam engine, poetry from local artists inspired by the Montagu Monuments and a BBQ. This event is free but there will be a collection.
Monday 19 June 2017 19:30-21:00 Talk by Alan Frost, Architect by Royal Appointment to the post-fire restoration of Windsor Castle - Alan Frost has had a long standing association with St Edmund's Church and the Montagu Monuments and his work was key to the recent conservation project. He has kindly agreed to share some highlights from his illustrious career, including the project that earnt him the LVO from Her Majesty the Queen. A dinner of Great British Fayre will be provided by Youthworks CIC and is included in the ticket price. Seating unreserved, some views are restricted. Tickets £25
