St George's Day at Borough Market: The Catalan day of books and roses
Sun 23 April 2017, 12:00 – 16:00 BST
Join us to celebrate St George´s Day, once again at Borough Market on Sunday 23 April.
There will be roses, books, live performances, storytelling, delicious English and Catalan food and much more.
This year, Newham Bookshop and Institut Ramon Llull will bring a bookstall to the market, which will sell some of the most important English translations of Catalan literature. Also, there will be a rich cultural programme: you’ll get a taste of the London Catalan Choir and performance by Castellers of London -Catalan human towers- and the Escola Catalana (Catalan School) who will offer an arts and craft workshop to the young ones and some storytelling of the legend of St George and the dragon.
This year we are glad to have as our guest writer Teresa Solana, crime and fiction author, born in Barcelona who currently lives in Oxford and has recently been awarded the 2017 Roc Boronat Prize.
Join us to celebrate this special occasion and enjoy a nice afternoon of Anglo-Catalan culture!
