Description

A promise of an enjoyable event: St Georges Day Dinner

According to legend St George was a soldier in the Roman Army who slayed a dragon and saved a princess. Nothing so dramatic will occur on Saturday 21st April 2018 but the Friends' of St Cross are holding a celebration dinner in memory of England's patron saint.

The most widely known symbol of St George's Day is the flag that will decorate St Faiths parish hall, a red cross and a white background which as everyone knows forms part of the Union Flag.

So a real English celebration is being planned, there will be tables of eight sitting to enjoy a hearty traditional meal of fish and chips followed by apple crumble. The Friends' have engaged a delightful singer who will entertain with songs such as Land of Hope and There Always be an England and hopefully a few rousing choruses of Jerusalem. [Not truly English but good fun]

The evening commences at 7 pm and the singing will finish at 10.00 pm. There will be a bar of course, and tickets for the event will cost just £20 which includes supper, please book with payment at the Porter's Lodge or with Fiona Whitehouse our administrator
