Welcome to our 6th St.Helens Couch to 5k programme!
Managed and delivered by the Council's Sports Development Team as part of our Community Sport project - we want to support people to get active.
Week 1 starts on Monday 26th September, so come to a session during that week and start your journey!
Sessions take place every Monday and Wednesday 6-7pm and Saturdays 9.15-10am, for 10 weeks. You can attend one session or all three sessions, it's up to you. Obviously the more you attend, the quicker you'll improve!
All sessions take place at Sutton Leisure Centre on the athletics track. Our staff are there to support you throughout the programme and keep you motivated. There's no pressure whatsoever, you just work at your own pace and build up gradually. Feedback from past participants has been really positive, with lots of people reporting an improvement in fitness, sleep, general wellbeing and weightloss - in addition to being able to get round 5k!
And it's FREE!!
Complete the programme and as well as all the personal benefits you'll achieve, you'll get a Community Sport technical t-shirt which you can then wear at St.Helens parkrun on Saturday 3rd December!
What is the minimum age to take part?
The programme is aimed at those aged 16+
We understand that if you have children, childcare can be a problem, so you're welcome to bring children with you on the understanding they are under your care and supervision. Please note: **bikes/scooters/balls are not allowed on the athletics track**
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Sutton Leisure Centre has a large car park, but we do encourage car-sharing where possible. The centre is also situated directly opposite Lea Green train station.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. We will have a pre-printed register at the sessions. Just find your name and tick yourself in.
I'm really unfit at the moment or have never run before. Will I be okay?
Yes! This programme is designed for complete beginners. There's no pressure and you can rest when you need to. We're here to support you and make sure you enoy it too!
