Event description
In anticipation of the final Visual Communion Symposium, A+C are hosting a number of short tours and celebrations of the Eucharist.

About this Event

Please join us for a tour and Eucharist in St James's RC Church

Friday 29 Nov, 11am ticketed tour, followed by 12.30am un-ticketed Mass. St James's RC Church, Spanish Place, London W1. The celebrant will be Fr Christopher Colven; tour led by Maria Cristina White de Cruz.

Built entirely of stone, the church is early Gothic in design, borrowing from Lichfield Cathedral and reflecting the English 13th-century Gothic style of Salisbury Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. The current church was built on the site of a smaller chapel completed shortly after the Roman Catholic Relief Act of 1791 thus St James' hosts many of the objects of piety which were made for this former, celebratory building. While an official Spanish connection ended in 1827, much of the Spanish heritage remains present including Alfonso XIII's personal standard. Join us as we discover the riches in this historically significant church.

Marina Cristina White da Cruz is an art historian and lecturer who sits on the Art and Architecture Committee of Westminster Cathedral.
