Event description

This event is a private party for members of Sevenoaks School Class of 89 and teachers by invitation of Devinia Lavan-Iswaran (Coco), Malina Palasthira, Mark Palmer, Michael Roell and Sarah Tyler.

Available only to Sevenoaks School Class of 89 members and special invitees at the discretion of organisers.

We have booked The Mayfair Suite, The Library, The Granville and Wellington Board Room which consists of the whole basement floor of the St James’s Hotel & Club, Mayfair. Please note that the capacity for these rooms is circa 140 persons standing. With 225 plus members of the Class of 89 and those teaching staff that can make it please book early. If we need to extend into the ground floor area we need to know as soon as possible before this is no longer possible. At this stage we do not anticipate having capacity for partners of the Class of 89.

There is an open bar available on the ground floor where the Hotel restaurant is based.

Depending on numbers it might be necessary to also book this extra space which has been discussed in principal with the hotel.

The Michelin starred Executive Chef, William Drabble, has prepared a selection menu of bowl foods for us to enjoy. He will also accommodate any special dietary wishes given advance notice.

The Hotel has kindly agreed to extend licensing hours from 1pm to circa 3am for those that want to make the most of the opportunity to catch up. Expectations is that we will retire to the bar area on the ground floor after 11pm to allow staff to clear down.

Hotel Accommodation:

The Hotel has rooms available for Friday night / Saturday night. There are discounts for early booking. Please arrange directly with hotel.

Payments during evening:

The event ticket will cost £100.00 payable in advance and details for making the payment will be within the event ticket confirmation.

Please note that

a) bookings will close by 5th April

b) refunds for cancellation may not be possible.

This is a Mayfair Hotel and we have attempted to get the best arrangements we can. However, we are also aware that people have different preferences with respect to drink.

We have therefore allowed for food and some drinks within our costs: Reception drink, house red and white wines and some non-alcoholic alternatives. Drinks otherwise will be able to be purchased by cash or card (I believe card is preferred) both within the hired rooms and the William’s Bar and Bistro.

If you drink cocktails then the Bar and Bistro is the place to source them.

Food Menu:

Smoked Haddock Risotto with peas and chives

Buratta with Confit Cherry Tomatoes, basil oil

Spring Vegetable Risotto with basil

Lamb Shoulder braised with sweet peppers and coriander, warm cous cous salad

Cesar salad with smoked chicken, avocado and crispy pancetta

Changing Facilities:

Within the basement area there is room for coats but given the projected numbers, changing and storage of travel bags is not practical.

It would therefore be better if those coming are able to arrive suitably attired and there is a likely two and a half hour span between the school based event and the evening one. The benefit of holding the evening event in central London is that there are vastly more accommodation possibilities than found in Sevenoaks.

The Hotel Concierge can assist in organising cab transport at the end of the evening.

Logistics – school to hotel:

We are hoping that as many as possible of you take the opportunity to socialise in the morning events and School Reception. It is a normal school day and there will be plenty to see.

Pre Events:

1) Golf - See details in separate Event. Please book in.

2) Hike - See details in separate Event. Please book in.

The hike is suggested casual clothes with practical shoes for walking, a waterproof coat. If very sunny it might be worth bringing some sun cream, hat and a bottle of water. The Route will start from Otto's Cafe and will allow lunch at The Buck's Head, Godden Green. If you bring clothes to change into for the School Reception normally the school prefers changing to be done in the Sennocke Sports Centre (located where the indoor tennis courts were built just beyond the Theatre). There are lockers there. However I will try to arrange for a secure location for anyone with luggage which is probably close to Otto's where the Old Sennockian Office is (near to Sennocke House).

3) School Reception and Tea

This event is organised by the OS Department at Sevenoaks School. See Separate Event for details. Please book in so school can ensure enough refreshments.

For the travel from school to London (assumed via Sevenoaks railway) is something for Class of 89 members to organise themselves unless notified otherwise. Otherwise for those going direct, please see the hotel Conciege who will direct you accordingly.
