Heritage and nature come together in St Mary's Heritage Centre. Join Dr Katie Liddane on the second Wednesday of every month for a tour of St Mary's Graveyard and then head inside the historic Grade 1 listed building.
This 45 minute tour covers the lesser-known parts of the region's heritage and the storied past of one of Gateshead's oldest buildings.
You are welcome to hang-around after the tour to enjoy this rare spot where history meets nature in urban Gateshead at the start of the Tyne Derwent Way. We also have teas and coffee available for a donation.
Accessibility
This tour is suitable for all, although we'd recommend you're comfortable walking/ being on your feet for up to 45 minutes - or travelling the equivalent distance and time in your wheelchair.

Tier 1, Paying £0 - £3 per event
- I frequently stress about meeting basic* needs and don’t always achieve them.
Tier 2 , Paying £6 per event
- I may stress about meeting my basic needs* but still regularly achieve them.
Tier 3 , Paying £12 per event
- I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic needs*.
*BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transport.
