Event description

St Michael’s Hospice invites you to bring out your alter-ego this summer at KAPOW! Superhero Challenge; our brand new, fun-filled inflatable challenge event. Our KAPOW! Superhero Challenge features an obstacle course made up of a range of giant inflatables, slides, mazes and much, much more for you to run, climb and crawl through, over and around.

Each obstacle is themed with famous super hero sayings, all based on Marvel Comic book characters, there will be movie tunes to get that adrenaline pumping as you tackle this 5km course (no training required); so getting dressed up in your favourite super-hero finery is a must!

The course is suitable for adults and children over 1.2 metres tall.

The course is approximately 5km and the distance between each obstacle will differ.

Do I have to run the route or can I walk?

Is KAPOW! timed?

No, take it at your own pace and make the most of the experience. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

What’s the terrain like?

The obstacle course is set out around the paths and lawns within the park.

What are my parking options at the event?

There is plenty of on street parking around the park, however please note that some areas do have restrictions.

What kind of obstacles will I be completing?

There are 10 various inflatable obstacles, including UV lighting, foam and music! Please note we reserve the right to change obstacles on the day, especially if we experience high winds or poor terrain.

Do I have to complete every obstacle?

Of course not! If you come across any obstacles that make you feel uncomfortable, then simply miss it out and move onto the next one.

What do we get upon completing the obstacle course?

The satisfaction of completing a fun and challenging course whilst raising money for a valuable local service.

What time shall I arrive?

We advise you arrive a minimum of 45 minutes before your allocated time slot, so you can park, register and warm up. Anyone missing their time slot will lose their right to take part unless a later time slot becomes available. Please be in the holding area in front of the stage 15 minutes before your chosen time slot.

What shall I wear?

We recommend you wear sports clothing and trainers. Do not wear anything with sharp edges that may cause injury to other participants or damage the inflatable obstacles along the course. Organisers have the right to ask you to remove anything deemed inappropriate before you start the course. All jewellery including watches and rings must be removed, along with glasses prior to starting and no cameras, bags or phones can be taken on the obstacles and definitely no safety pins! If you plan on wearing cloaks please ensure they are tucked in whilst on the course. We advise against wearing anything with a tie around the neck or anything long, this is to avoid others standing on them or them getting stuck in the obstacles. Go Pros must be properly mounted in chest wear if being used If wearing glasses - please note they may get knocked off and wearing them is at your own risk. Marshals can look after glasses or any medical equipment required on the course at each obstacle.

Unfortunately dogs and other pets are not allowed.

Can spectators attend?

Absolutely! Whilst spectators are NOT allowed to participate in the race, or use the inflatable obstacles we would love for them to show support to all race participants along the route.

Can I participate if I am pregnant?

Sadly if you are pregnant you are unable to take part.

Can I participate if I have any health issues?

If you have any health issues, we recommend you consult your doctor before taking part. Although we try and make the event as safe as possible there is always the possibility of unforeseeable incidents such as bumping into others or falling. We also alert participants to the use of foam and UV lighting.

Is there wheelchair access?

Unfortunately the obstacles are not suitable for wheelchair users due to them being challenging, in height and what’s required to get over/under/through them. It is possible to go around the course in Superhero costume and bypass all the obstacles but still take part in the 5km challenge.
