Dear Parent/Carer

As a parent I know the importance of choosing the right school for your child's secondary education. In order to help you make this choice, you are warmly invited to our Open Evening on Wednesday, 1st October at 6pm. The evening will consist of a presentation by myself, the Head Boy and Head Girl, and Year 7 students. This will be followed by the opportunity to visit and spend time in each department.

Key facts about our school:

  • We were rated ‘Outstanding’ in our recent Ofsted inspection (May 2025)
  • Outstanding GCSE results in all subjects
  • Progress 8 score of +0.89 in 2024, placing us in the top 2% of schools in the country
  • Attainment 8 score of 55.1 in 2025 (all schools will not have a P8 score for 2025)
  • 80% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 in both English and Maths in 2024. We also saw a record number of students achieve straight Grades 7, 8 and 9, equivalent A*/A grades, in all subjects.
  • Fantastic students who are motivated, hardworking, and whose behaviour is exemplary
  • Fantastic team of staff, who are collaborative, open, and supportive of the students and each other
  • Academic Sixth Form, with highly aspirational students who want to learn
  • We were rated ‘Outstanding’ in our Section 48 Diocesan Inspection in July 2019

Our aim is simple, we want to be the best school in the country. This means that we can ‘hand on heart’ say that our students get a better deal than if they attended another school.

Last September, we opened our new Sixth Form and welcomed our first cohort of Year 11 students. Any student who joins us would be starting a 5 to 7 year journey, in which they will be supported and challenged to fulfil their God-given potential.

As a Catholic School, St Oscar Romero’s is founded on Gospel values. We provide a nurturing environment of love, respect and discipline, where every individual is highly valued and our care and concern for others is central to our mission. We expect our students to work hard, behave well, dress smartly and pursue excellence in all that they do inside and outside of the classroom. Our culture is one of high expectations in all that we do.

Applications for school places must be made to the Local Authority by the deadline of 31st October 2025. Applications received after this date are treated as late by WSCC and dealt with after the initial places are allocated.

We do not have a catchment area all applications are ranked according to category your child comes under in our Admissions Policy (see school website) and then distance to the school.

In order to ensure your child is placed in the correct category please complete and return a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) directly to us. If your child is Baptised (Catholic, C of E etc.) or is member of a church please also include a copy of the certificate or letter from priest or pastor etc.

Our Morning Tours take place Friday 3rd, Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th and Tuesday 14th October, all at 9.15am prompt. Places are limited and must be booked via Eventbrite .

Please also note we can only offer disabled parking, therefore, if you are driving, please park in surrounding area and stride. The gates will open at 9am.

If you are unable to make any of the above dates, please email Mrs Godfrey kgodfrey@stromeros.co.uk and we will see if it is possible to make an appointment for you.

I look forward to you joining us at one of the above events

Yours sincerely

Mr P Byrne
