Event description

Description

The meeting point is inside St. Pancras station, below the clock, beside the 'Meeting Place' sculpture. The walk ends at Granary Square, which is behind King's Cross station. The tour will start promptly at 11.00 am. If you are running a little late I will be giving the introduction to the tour at the meeting point, then we will be moving on to the first stop which is in front of the entrance to the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The second stop is in the courtyard of the British library. We will be at each stop for about 5 minutes, allowing you around 10-15 minutes to catch us up if you are late for the beginning. If you have any difficulties on the day or questions before the walk, my contact number is 0772 599 7943. Please check travel arrangements on the day at Transport for London's Journey Planner site.

Come with Alan to take a look at the lives of important figures from the worlds of literature, film, and theatre who have lived and worked in St. Pancras and Somers Town. Three of the many highlights are the former home of award-winning film director Mike Leigh, the gravestone of the forerunner of modern feminist writing, Mary Wollstonecraft, and the site of a radical theatre where the famous American singer/actor, Paul Robeson, once performed. The walk finishes near the back of King's Cross station, close to the boarding platform for the Hogwaerts Express.
