Free, lunchtime talk, 13:00-14:00 Wednesday 6th june

To mark the anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, St Paul's is celebrating the the role of women in the life and work of the Cathedral.This talk looks at the lives of three women commeorated in the crypt.

Encompassing compassion and philanthropy, crime and punishment, the lives of some extraordinary women are commemorated in the crypt of St Paul’s. Vivien Kermath, a Cathedral guide, has pursued in-depth research in to the biographies of these individuals discovering tales of unscrupulous suitors, abductions and faith and fortitude in the face of adversity. In this talk Vivien will recount a selection of colourful histories and reveal how and why these remarkable women came to be memorialised in the Cathedral.

The duration of the talk is 45 miniutes.

The talk will be in the Cathedral Wren Suite.

Entrance is via the crypt entrance on the north side of the Cathedral.

A lift for visitors of limited mobility is located on the south side of St paul's.

The Cathedral Collections form a unique record of the spiritual, liturgical, architectural, administrative and social life of one of the world’s outstanding buildings and its imposing predecessor, the pre-fire Old St Paul's Cathedral. They are maintained as an asset for current use and as a legacy for future generations.
