FOR ST PETER'S PRIMARY PUPILS ONLY
LEAF club was the idea of one of St Peter's pupils, after enjoying Forest School sessions held at Croham Hurst during school time, and wanting the experience to be more regular.
Running from 3.30 - 5pm every Wednesday in term time, LEAF offers children the opportunity of regular contact with their local woods throughout the seasons and to spend time in St Peter's Forest School Treehouse area learning about tools, fire lighting, seasonal greenwood crafts and camp fire cooking.
Led by 2 qualified and experienced facilitators who run St Peter's Forest School sessions, and volunteers who are both year 6 and ex-pupils, children will be in a small group of mixed ages, where they can get to know each other and build friendships outside the classroom and their year group.
Aimed at years 3 - 6, there are a maximum of 20 places available, but the club will happily run with a minimum of 10.
Every Wednesday, children will meet our LEAF Team in the round room at 3.30pm after school, and depending on the weather and what the children have planned, we will either head on up the the woods, or into the Forest School Treehouse area for the afternoon's adventures.
Each session costs £11, which covers staff time, insurance, equipment and administration, and we are offering a block of 4 sessions this October.
Parents can pick up their children at 5pm sharp at the reception area side gate. We have decided to ask for late fees of £2.50 for people arriving after 5 past, and £5 for people arriving more than 15 minutes late to encourage folk to be prompt, as we all have responsibilities to honour, and things to do elsewhere. Thanks for understanding.
Please send your child to school with a bag for LEAF, containing a change of tracksuit bottoms, appropriate footwear to change into (walking boots, wellies or old trainers depeding on weather) and a small snack such as fruit, cereal bar or crisps. Please ensure they bring / wear a warm and waterproof coat to school. Their school bags and water bottles can be left in the Treehouse during LEAF sessions.
This is an outdoor club, so we will be outside no matter the weather. We have tarp shelters, and the treehouse and sheltered areas in the Reception play area if the weather is wet, and will have a camp fire on colder days. We are encouraging children to enjoy, experience and be prepared for whatever the weather is doing!
We will only cancel in the event of a thunderstorm or very high winds, and will ensure we let you know by midday on that Wednesday.
Please ensure you join our WhatsApp group by texting your details to Suzy on 07729769663. This will help us keep you updated as to when tickets for each term are available to purchase and hopefully save the school office from having to contact people individually if there are important notifications.
Any questions, please drop Suzy an email on gowildcroydon@gmail.com, or you can sometimes catch her in the upper playground at drop off and pick up.
