St Wufram's Church Spire

An illustrated talk by Graham Cook, the supervising Architect for the extensive work involved in rebuilding the top section of the magnificent spire of Grantham St Wulfram’s church in 2014, to remove rusting ironwork which was seriously weakening the structure.

He will talk through the reasons why the difficult and expensive work had become necessary, and the many challenges faced along the way, including 100 mph wind speeds, unexpected hard cement pointing and accommodating the needs of the previously (and subsequently) resident Peregrine Falcons!
