Description

Join us for a FREE lunch at 12:00 SK/036 before training starts!

What is the training?

This training is being run for YSJ by local charity IDAS. IDAS is the largest specialist charity in Yorkshire supporting anyone experiencing or affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence (www.idas.org.uk ). Completing this training will mean you become an ‘IDAS Champion’.

The training aims to increase your understanding of: identifying different types of domestic abuse, understanding barriers for victims accessing support, what support is available to the victim and perpetrator, importance of boundaries and limitations, brief understanding of the law around Domestic Abuse, social media and how it can be used to abuse and the importance of your personal wellbeing when talking about domestic abuse.

Any staff member can become an IDAS Champion for YSJ. If you are someone who simply wants to make a difference and help people get the support they need, please sign up to the training session. As a staff IDAS Champion we would encourage you to cascade your new knowledge to others in the York St John Community.

What will I get from the training?

A designated staff training session which gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about domestic abuse or sexual violence and discuss with colleagues from across the University.

Fantastic training for your continuous professional development.

Access to online training: IDAS Basic Domestic Abuse Awareness Training and Rape Awareness Training.

A handbook and a toolkit which includes leaflets, posters, stickers to help raise awareness.

Regular email updates and opportunities to attend further workshops on domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Networking opportunities with other IDAS Champions.

If you have any questions or would like further information, contact Gemma Linfoot-King or Lizzie Hope healthyrelationships@yorksj.ac.uk

We really look forward to seeing you on the day!
