Ah, those old Hollywood stars! Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone, Stewart Grainger to name but a few. And those movies! The Adventures of Robin Hood, Captain Blood, Scaramouche!! These stars and these movies gave us a very stylish way of fighting – fast and light, daring and always gentlemanly (well nearly always)!
This course is about learning the techniques and methods involved when fighting with the single sword in a style reminiscent of the old Hollywood movies. A constant emphasis will be placed on how to work in the safest and most controlled manner and there will be the opportunity to take the BASSC Fight Performance Test on the final day.
This is a practical course where teaching is done by instructor demonstration followed by students working in pairs. Students will be expected to engage in Q&A sessions with the tutor as part of the group learning process. A certain amount of physical and mental stamina is required.
