About this event
Join us for an exciting and hands-on stained glass 2.5 hour workshop where you will create your very own Christmas pudding or festive star to take home! Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, this workshop will guide you through the fascinating process of working with glass, plus you'll have something hand-made to add to your festive decorations.
What to Expect
- The session will begin with a health and safety briefing, covering essential precautions and an introduction to the equipment.
- Guided by Sarah you will discuss the pattern design for the day’s project, exploring pattern-making and learn how to cut glass by practicing on clear float glass before selecting your preferred colours from a range of options to begin cutting and grinding your ornament.
- Once your pieces are cut and shaped, you’ll clean, dry, and apply copper foil to prepare for assembly.
- The final step is soldering to secure your ornament together. Pre-made jump rings will be provided so you can easily attach a hanger to your finished piece.
- We’ll then clean off any remaining flux, and have the option to apply a patina to darken the solder lines or leave them silver.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautiful stained glass ornament to hang in your window for Christmas. Stained glass is a great way to turn creative ideas into something tangible. The process takes a bit of patience but will beautiful results.
