Stand Up for Groundwork
Fri 7 April 2017, 19:30 – 23:30 BST
Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle are delighted to invite you to join us for a night of raucous laughter and deep belly laughs as we host our first ever comedy fundraiser at our Skylight Suite's in the Beacon, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Local favourite, star of Britain’s Got Talent and host of the BBC Radio Newcastle Breakfast Show, Alfie Joey is delighted to introduce some of the best talent the North East (and Croydon) have to offer with Mike Milligan, Rohul Kohli and Rod Shepherd all joining him on the bill for what promises to be a side splitting night of top entertainment.
Alfie Joey himself explains “This is a great bill, in a great location. I’ve worked at the Beacon and attended several events in the Skylight suite and it’s such an exciting performance area. I’ve personally hand-picked an exciting bill, a great mix of comedy circuit experience, exciting talent for the future and something truly bonkers. It will be a truly special night as profits raised will go to a truly special charity.”
All proceeds from the evening will support the excellent projects undertaken by Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle and ticket holders will decide on the night which project they would like the money to be donated towards. Projects include the restoration of the Anglo-Saxon reproduction buildings at Jarrow Hall, a new outdoor playground for children visiting the site and a new “hobbit” house at West Boldon Lodge to be used during educational visits.
Andrew Watts, Chief Executive of Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle is delighted to be welcoming the acts to Skylight and says “The comedy fundraiser gives us another platform to engage with the community in Newcastle. I look forward to enjoying the fantastic line-up and am sure that everyone who attends will have a great evening filled with lots of laughter and it will be great to see which of the projects the audience choose to support.”
Tickets are priced at £8.50 for individuals, or you can buy a group of six (seated together) for £42. Doors will be open from 7.30pm, with the first act on stage at 8.30pm. Over 18s only.
