Your board, paddle, leash, bouyancy aid and wetsuit (if required) are provided. You will need to bring shoes that can get wet and a towel. The club has lockable changing rooms and hot showers.

The session starts with getting changed into a wetsuit (optional) and bouyancy aid (mandatory) before heading outside for a safety briefing and introduction to the kit you will be using.

There is a land demo folowed by short on the water demo of the three key stages of paddleboarding which are prone, kneeling and standing. There is a demonstration of self rescue and how to fall correctly.

Once the group has mastered the basics, there will be a short trip around the lake to practice the techniques that have been learnt before returning to shore for a debrief and discussion on next stages for developing your skills.

How Much Does It Cost?

Tickets for the SUP Taster are £15. Tickets are purchased online and are sent to your e-mail.

What Do I Need To Bring?

A towel and a pair of trainers, beach shoes or pumps that can get wet. There are wetsuits for you to borrow if you would like one - and it is recommended as you may (will) get wet!

Are there any restrictions?

Experience has shown that young children (under 10) are unable to paddle the larger adult boards at BCYC. There are two smaller boards but the availability of these cannot be guarenteed. You know your kids, and if you think they will be able to cope - please book on the session. There is no upper age limit - if you are game - so are we.

You will be asked to discose any health issues to your instructor that you think may be pertenant and that your instructor needs to be aware.

You do not need to be able to swim to take part but confidence in and on the water is a benefit.

How do I get from the site?

You will make your own way to the lake. it is 2.5 m from Cheddar to Axbridge. There is extensive parking at the club, or its a pleasant walk to the lake from the center of Cheddar. There are plans to offer a bus service from site to Cheddar - but this has not been confirmed at this time.
