Join representatives from Freshwater Habitats Trust for a guided walk at Stanswood Valley on Cadland Estate to learn about the incredible wetland and heathland habitats on this site and the work we are doing to restore these habitats as part of the Species Survival Fund project. We will discuss the impact of climate change on the site, and the role that conservation projects like these play in combatting climate change.
This is an excellent opportunity for any early-career conservationists to learn more about habitat restoration and conservation, within a New Forest context.
Species Survival Fund is a collaborative project between five partners to help halt species decline and restore habitats in the New Forest and is funded by Defra and National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Parking: Please park at the end of Walker's Lane South (what3words location slanting.helps.conspire).
Meeting: We will meet at the gate at the end of this road at 9:15am (what3words location reinvest.twinkled.presenter)
Details: We will begin our walk at 9:30 and aim to finish around 11:00. This walk will be approximately 1.5 miles on flat ground, primarily on gravel tracks. Please wear weather appropriate clothing (e.g. coats, layers, waterproofs, sunhats) and sturdy footwear and ensure you bring any medication you need and enough food and water for the duration, as well as any medication you may require. In case of warm weather please wear suncream and bring plenty of water.
Cancellations:
Walk may be rescheduled in the case of poor weather e.g. high winds, amber weather warnings.
If the event is cancelled or postponed, we will aim to notify you via email within 24 hours of the event where possible. Please keep an eye on your emails prior to the event.
