Event description

Description

Join us up at Abriachan Forest (Dark Sky Discovery site) an evening of dark sky observing and stargazing with astronomer Stephen Mackintosh. This will be the last dark sky observing session of this season.

Event format is weather proofed so please book with confidence. In the event of poor weather Stephen will instead present an indoor talk on Galaxies and the Large Scale Universe, looking at our home galaxy the Milky Way along with the vast interconnected web of galaxy clusters that make up the bigger structure of the observable universe.

We'll also have campfire storytelling from our resident storyteller and forest ranger Clelland McCallum. Family friendly and all ages welcome. Binoculars are available to borrow during the evening but if you have your own please bring them along. Refreshments available.

Due to site and classroom capacity, booking via Eventbrite is essential. Admission is free for under 16s with accompanying adults but please inform Abriachan of any large booking requests.

Free transport to Abriachan and back may be available on request - please contact abriachanforest@gmail.com or call 01463 861236.
