How do I get there?

Please use the postcode OX11 0QX and follow the signs to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. Parking is behind the Diamond Light Source - please follow the sign for 'PARKING'. Marshals will help guide you to the registration desk. Please have your tickets either printed or electronically ready.

Food and Drink

Accepted Answer

Refreshments will be available to purchase from our restaurant, the restaurant only takes electronic payments, no cash. Water coolers are available to fill your own bottles (please bring with you) in the Visitor Centre, Conference Room 12 (with the rockets) and Diamond.

Is it indoors or outdoors?

Accepted Answer

This event is mostly indoors (apart from the stargazing - weather permitting), however, there is a lot of walking between areas outside so please wear sensible footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.

Do I need to bring anything?

Accepted Answer

You will need to bring your tickets (either electronic or printed) for us to scan at reception. We also need to see photo ID for adults. Please bring a water bottle and consider bringing a reusable cup if you plan on purchasing a hot drink. You may also wish to bring a bag for everything you collect

Is this event accessible?

Accepted Answer

The majority of this event is accessible to all, however, there are a couple of exceptions: ISIS tours may include steps and ISIS cannot permit service animals. There is a hearing loop in the lecture theatre for the talks and we have a portable hearing loop for anyone to borrow - please ask.

Are there quiet spaces?

Accepted Answer

Whilst this event is incredibly busy, there are lots of different areas, so you can move to another area if one gets particularly busy. There are also two quiet spaces with colouring, fidget toys and books for you to use if you need.
