Stargazing in the City at the Moor Park Observatory
Wed 29 March 2017, 19:00 – 22:00 BST
To coincide with the BBC's Stargazing Live the University of Central Lancashire's Jeremiah Horrocks Institute will be opening our newly refurbished Moor Park Observatory on the evening of Wednesday the 29th of March. We will show some of our historic and modern telescopes, talk about the history of astronomy in Preston, show some real meteorites, and offer the opportunity for you to ask our astronomers any questions you may have. If the weather is suitable visitors will also be able to look through some of our collection of telescopes.
Please reserve tickets to allow us to keep track of numbers attending.
Is there an age limit to take part?
There are no age limits, but children should be accompanied at all times, as the site will be dark.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no parking available on site, so please arrange to be dropped off/picked up nearby, or to walk to the observatory.
What should I bring to the event?
Observing can be cold so please bring something warm to wear. A small torch, ideally covered with something red, such as a transparent sweet wrapper, will help you navigate the outdoor parts of the observatory without ruining your or anyone else's night vision.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Queries can be directed to email@example.com
