Event description
Have a fantastic family night out under the stars on a walk through surrounding villages, in memory of your loved ones.

About this event

With entertainment and featuring the incredible Starlight Express train – with thanks to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway – this is a night not to be missed!

What's more, this year you can guarantee your seat on the first train by booking early and snagging one of our Early Bird Express tickets.

If you're happy to board the second train approximately 30 minutes later, please opt for the Early Bird or Standard registration fees.

*Early Bird Express offer closes at midnight on 30th August or when capacity is reached on the first train*

What happens on the night?

Starting early evening from 6pm, arrive in time to register and enjoy our entertainment area, where you’ll find music, stalls and refreshments available.

After warming up, you’ll board the Starlight Express train, which will transport you to the start of the walk.

You’ll then follow a safe, marshalled 10K route around the surrounding villages of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, and pass through the hospice grounds, including a trip down Starlight Avenue: a quiet area of reflection.

There'll be plenty to entertain you around the route, and you'll be treated to a snack bar and some water at the halfway point to keep you going.

Crossing the finishing line, you’ll be rewarded with a well-deserved bite to eat, goody bag and medal, plus the knowledge that you’ve done something amazing for local people at the hardest time of their lives.

Why we ask you to fundraise

Every penny raised through sponsorship will help us to continue to provide hospice care to our patients and their families, both here at Manorlands and out in the local community. Help us be there when it matters.

Organiser Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice

Organiser of Starlight Hike - Worth Valley

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is in Oxenhope, near Keighley, and provides expert palliative care, advice and support for people across Bradford, the Airedale, Ilkley, Craven and the Yorkshire Dales who are living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

Our inpatient hospice provides round-the-clock assessment and specialist care to help manage patients' symptoms. In addition to our inpatient unit, our day service helps people living with long term conditions to avoid unnecessary trips to hospital, as well as offering social opportunities alongside others experiencing similar circumstances. We also offer community services for people who prefer to receive palliative care at home.

Our expert team includes doctors, nurses, care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational and complementary therapists, social workers and bereavement support workers. They all work seamlessly together to support people through the most difficult times of their lives.

Whether somebody is dealing with a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one, we’re there when it matters. Sue Ryder staff and volunteers provide people with the compassion and expert care they need, to help them live the best life they can.

Manorlands Hospice is part of the wider Sue Ryder charity.
