Description

If you're a first-time entrepreneur or freelancer, in the creative or digital sectors with an interest in setting up a business, you will probably need to do quite a lot of research and planning before you’re able turn your idea into something more concrete. Coming along to our Start Up Bootcamp help you to develop a strong business proposition, and equip you with the necessary tools to turn your ideas into a reality.


Their purpose is to give you a heads up on how to write a business plan and to take a hard look at your financial needs and prospects. It’s also a chance to evaluate your idea and develop answers to the tough questions anyone would ask before turning your concept into a viable business model.

The topics covered will include the following:

  • Understanding your business
  • Your Customer and Marketing
  • Generating Sales
  • Operations and Infrastructure
  • Money and Action Planning
  • Selling, pitching and presenting.

We will be inviting experts along to help you to stress test your idea, show you how to do business research and help you to ask and answer the important questions you need to write a business plan and get your business off the ground. They’ll also give you food for thought on the best way to fund your business proposition and ensure that you have resources you need to take it to market.

The Bootcamp is being run over 3 days with 6 sessions in total and you will need to book for each one separately.


The sessions are;

(BOOTCAMP 1) - 4 December 9am to 1pm - Understanding your business, Customer Relations, Revenue Streams VENUE - NOTTINGHAM PLAYHOUSE

(BOOTCAMP 2) - 4 December 1.30pm to 5.30pm - Your Customer and Marketing, Research. Brand and Image, Social Media VENUE - NOTTINGHAM PLAYHOUSE

(BOOTCAMP 3) - 7 December 9am to 1pm - Generating Sales, leads, business terms and conditions VENUE - THE LACE MARKET HOTEL, HIGH PAVEMENT, NOTTINGHAM

(BOOTCAMP 4) - 7 December 1.30pm to 5.30pm - Operations and Finance, Delivering Value, Business Systems, Insurance VENUE - THE LACE MARKET HOTEL, HIGH PAVEMENT, NOTTINGHAM

(BOOTCAMP 5) - 15 December 9am to 1pm - Money and Action Planning, Sales Forecasting, Cash flow, Running Costs, Tax VENUE - THE NATIONAL VIDEO ARCADE, 22-24 CARLTON STREET, NOTTINGHAM

(BOOTCAMP 6) - 15 December 1.30pm to 5.30pm - Selling, Pitching, Communications and Presentations VENUE - THE NATIONAL VIDEO ARCADE, 22-24 CARLTON STREET, NOTTINGHAM


As this course is part of an ERDF funded initiative, you must be enrolled in The Big House Programme, prior to attending the event. If you are not already enrolled, you will find the appropriate form to complete here. Please bring this form with you to the first workshop as it will be required when signing in.
