Description

Join us for 'Start Up Stand Up: Focus on Female Entrepreneurs' on Thursday 23rd March 2017, 6pm – 8pm at GO Jones Lecture Theatre (Mile End campus), Queen Mary University of London.

Start Up, Stand Up is an informal networking event where entrepreneurs talk about their experiences setting up their own companies.

This time we've decided to focus on female entrepreneurs to celebrate some of the amazing female talent that London has to offer. Come along to network over drinks.

We have a fantastic range of speakers lined up:

Amanda Montagu has been an entrepreneur since she was 18. With many successful businesses and accolades under her belt she says she's never considered any other style of working life. Amanda's businesses have been in recruitment, property to training schools and she has even received recognition from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills for her work to train unskilled workers from deprived areas into well paid jobs. Achieving her degree and postgraduate degree at night school whilst running her first business, she joined the Institute of Directors as its youngest female member when she was just 23. Today, Amanda is an Ambassador for FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) letting the growing population of SMEs know of the not-for-profit organisation and how it helps and supports all SMEs from the one-man-band to the business with 249 employees.

Lotis Bautista is the co-founder of VOLO, a social enterprise that works in partnership with universities and charities to transform student employability and support career development. Established in July 2015, they now work with over 40 charities across the UK, connecting hundreds of students to high skill volunteering, tracking their impact and linking to them to socially responsible companies for job opportunities.

Prior to this, she worked in Education Strategy for the Church of England Education Office and is a Teach First Ambassador following completion of the Leadership Development Programme in 2012. Within this role, she was responsible for supporting Sixth Formers to transition into careers and higher education and continues to train and support young people and graduates through her additional volunteering roles as a governor and mentor.
