Exploring new business models for NGO humanitarian response

The Start Network presents an evening of debate on the future of NGOs, the current business models, and how working differently can create a decentralised system for humanitarian response by hearing from the projects and organisations that are already doing it.

Speakers will present the opportunities and implications of devolved humanitarian response in the field and in the board room. Leading thinkers will debate whether business as usual is enough to enable the contribution of NGOs in an increasingly uncertain future.

Organiser The Start Network

Organiser of Start: Working differently 2014

The Start Network is a consortium of 19 leading NGOs working together to accelerate crisis response.

In order to meet the needs of crisis-affected people in a future of great uncertainty and complexity, the Start Network believes that the humanitarian sector must change. The Start Network members collaborate because the change that is demanded cannot be achieved by any single organisation acting alone.

In February 2014 The Start Network Agencies agreed a collective vision that we will shape a humanitarian system which is diverse, decentralised and collaborative. Since then, the consortium has secured up to £56 million of funding to design and develop its work. This week brings key influencers, decision makers and stakeholders together to make the decisions which will start to realise this vision.
