About this event

About this event

This workshop is a revised version of the previously titled 'Identifying Outcomes, Talking Impact'.

How can you ensure that as you start a piece of work, your Healthwatch is in a strong position to achieve positive changes for local residents and grab the attention of stakeholders?

We'll look at ways you can prioritise areas of work from your long list of things you could take forward to increase your chances of success and address inequalities.

Then, by considering the Theory of Change that sits behind the approach you're going to take with an area of work, you can help ensure the team has a shared understanding of what you're going to do and that you're planning with clearer objectives. We'll look at how spending an extra hour using this approach at the start of a piece of work can significantly affect what you'll achieve later.

These are small-group workshops, so we’re expecting you to come ready and willing to participate. With a maximum of 12 participants at each session, you can explore the topic with peers and identify practical steps you can take.

Type of event

Interactive learning session with a small group of participants. Please have your camera on if that’s possible.

Who is this event for?

This event is for any Healthwatch paid staff who want to understand better how to plan for outcomes and impact. It is suitable for people who haven't previously attended our 'Identifying Outcomes, Talking Impact' workshop or participated in a session provided for their full Healthwatch team on using Theory of Change.

Given the small groups involved, we ask that only one or two people from your Healthwatch book a place on the same workshop.

What you will learn?

The workshop will focus on showing you the following:

•Things to consider when you set your project priorities.

•What we mean by 'outcomes' and 'impact'.

•What is a Theory of Change, and why should you do one?

•How other Healthwatch have used the Theory of Change approach.

•How assumptions might influence your activities.

Part of the session will involve a group exercise so participants can help each other explore how outcomes and impact relate to real examples.

Who is running this event?

Jon Turner, Impact Programme and Regional Network (North West) Manager.

We are the independent national champion for people who use health and social care services.

We’re here to ensure that those running services, and the government, put people at the heart of care. We support local Healthwatch to find out what people want and to advocate for services that meet local communities’ needs. Healthwatch around the country act as our eyes and ears on the ground, letting us know how people’s care could be improved.

Our sole purpose is to help make care better for people. We have the power to make sure their voices are heard.
