Starting a business from scratch. An ADHD, AuDHD friendly version

By Neuropeace

Overview

A 2 hour session to discuss the pro's and cons of self employment and running your own business. ADHD friendly.

Event Overview

Starting a business can feel exciting and completely overwhelming at the same time — especially if you have ADHD, autism, or combined.

This 2-hour workshop is designed specifically for ND adults who are thinking about starting their own business but feel stuck, scattered, or unsure where to begin. You do NOT have to be neurodivergent to attend, it will be a steb by step guide regardless and helpful to anyone.

There are so many ADHD posts, courses and info telling other ADHD people to go for it and work for themselves. The reality is if you do not understand the pitfalls and likely issues involved, you will loop back and repeat old patterns.

Break that loop and gain practical insght into the pro's and cons before taking the plunge.

This is not a hype session and not a “just work harder” approach.
It’s calm, practical, and grounded in how ND brains actually work and how self employment would look.

Whether you have lots of ideas or none at all, this session will help you find a realistic starting point and reduce the mental overload that often stops people taking the first step.

WHO THIS SESSION IS FOR

This workshop is for you if:

– You have ADHD, autism, AuDHD, or identify as neurodivergent it will be built for you
– You want to start a business but feel blocked, overwhelmed or unsure
– You struggle with clarity, focus or decision-making
– You’ve tried before and got stuck
– You want a business that works with your brain, not against it

You do not need a business idea yet.
You do not need experience.
You do not need to be “ready”.

WHAT THE SESSION WILL COVER

During this 2-hour workshop, we will cover:

– Why neurodivergent people are often drawn to self-employment
– Common ADHD and autistic blocks when starting a business
– How to spot strengths that don’t look like “traditional” skills
– Turning scattered ideas into one clear starting point
– Choosing a business model that suits your energy and brain
– Avoiding overthinking, perfectionism and burnout from the start
– Simple next steps you can actually follow through on

The focus is clarity, not pressure.

WHAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH

By the end of the session, you will have:

– A clearer understanding of what kind of business suits you
– One realistic starting point (not a long to-do list)
– Reduced mental noise and overwhelm
– A calmer, more confident way to move forward
– Permission to do this in your own way

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

The session is delivered by Clair, a business and operations specialist with over 15 years’ experience supporting founders and professionals.

Clair is an FCIM (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing), has started and supported over 20 businesses for clients, and runs her own business.

She is also late-diagnosed ADHD and autistic, and specialises in creating neurodivergent-friendly systems, structures and ways of working.

This session combines lived experience with real business expertise — not theory.

AFTER THE WORKSHOP

For those who want more support, you can book:

– A 1:1 follow-up session to develop your idea
– Step-by-step support towards launch
– Ongoing help with systems, structure and running your business

There is no pressure to continue. The workshop stands alone.

FORMAT

– Group workshop
– Duration: 2 hours
– Calm, supportive environment
– Questions welcome
– No forced participation - groups are small with varying demographics.

The session is priced at £10 to cover costs. ADHDers can have a habit of signing up for events when motivation is high and then reality sets in! The price fairly reflects the planning time, but this is mainly about community and support. If you sign up, I’ll help you attend as best I can beforehand.

The session will be two hours long, with time to ask questions, chat, and connect. Tea, coffee (regular and decaf), and juice will be available in a welcoming, relaxed space.

I look forward to seeing you there!
