Starting a creative business
Monday, March 18, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM (GMT)
London, United Kingdom
In a uncertain economic climate, many of us dream of setting up our own business – using our creative skills, while becoming our own boss.
This could be a design studio, a series of events, a retail empire - or, increasingly, a hybrid of different activities that bond around a common creative ethos.
In this series of talks, three very different entrepreneurs will explore what it takes to turn a great idea into a robust business. Through case studies, tips and tricks and honest accounts of mistakes made, they will cover the key considerations for launching and building a new venture.
The evening will cover:
- the basics: what you absolutely need to do, and what you don't.
- sources of funding
- working with brands and sponsors
- handling growth and managing a team
- mixing revenue streams
There will be plenty of time between the talks for open Q&A.
This course is for anyone who has an idea for a creative business that they want to turn into a reality. You'll leave with solid advice and the inspiration to take the next steps.
