Description

This workshop will provide an introduction to some of the key processes involved in carrying out a systematic review, with a particular focus on systematic literature searching. It includes topics such as:

  • Aspects of protocol development

  • Key databases to search

  • Building a search strategy

  • Using advanced search techniques

  • Searching other sources including 'grey literature'

  • Managing search results

  • Screening

  • Reporting your search

Although the material relates primarily to health, the principles can be applied to other disciplines such as education, social sciences, environmental sciences. The workshop will involve practical exercises and an opportunity to develop/discuss individual search strategies.
