Each year Startup Portsmouth organise a start-up community summit for people in the City considering starting their own business. At this free summit budding business owners can interact with each other as well as other local support providers to share ideas and experiences and support one another in their start-up endeavours.
The summit will run from 10am to 2pm and include a market street area where budding startups can meet support providors and successful entrepreneurs as well as parallel streams that you can step in and out that feature talks and workshops from people who have made it, educators and support industries.

The Startup Sessions
Get a head start on the legal aspects of running your own business. Lee Scott from Adobo Accounting gives an overview of business planning and financial forecasting, Sue Beeby keeps you clear of HR problems and there’s an overview of your intellectual property rights to make sure your work remains yours.
Wondering what finance is available to you and what the best options are for your money. In this session Santander, Tracey Ward and others come together to give you an overview of the services available from Retail Banking, Public Sector Investment and Crowdfunding.
Female Entrepreneur Network
The Female Entrepreneur Network meets four times per year in the City. At these events entrepreneurs share their thoughts and experiences of starting their own businesses. Three of their speakers will give you an insight into how they started their businesses and their top tips for success as a women starting your own business.
Marketing to Market, 10 things to do now and 10 to do later
Christine Hammacott and Kevin Briscoe walk you through the world of marketing and branding,what to do now and what can wait until later. More than ever it is important that you are confident and clear about what your business does. The team will give insight into the best practice and avoiding the pitfalls of the marketing world.
Confidence and Support to Start your Own Business
Starting out on your own can be hard, there are people who can help. If you have ever considered mentoring or coaching then this is the session for you. David Skelton from It’s a Jungle Training and Development Ltd will present this session on keeping yourself supported.
Business support in the City – the vision for the future
What are the City’s plans to support startups and the business community at large? Over the last six months there has been significant work going on behind the scenes. At this session various individuals will present on the new website www.startup-portsmouth.co.uk, the new Business Support Bank and a free mentoring service for the City.
