About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Do you struggle to know what to say when writing for your business?

Whether it’s a blog, a newsletter or your next Instagram caption, this month’s mini workshop will help you find the words that connect.

Writing coach Jennifer Jones will share practical tips from her course Write Engaging Blog Posts the Easy Way, giving you tools to write meaningful content quickly and confidently, without second-guessing every sentence.

About Our Guest Speaker: Dr Jennifer Jones

Published author and expert writing coach, Dr Jennifer Jones has been helping people become happier, more productive writers since 2001. She trained to teach writing during her PhD at the University of California at Davis.

Jennifer has taught at universities in the US and the UK, and now coaches consultants, coaches, and healers to write their credibility-building books, blogs, and other content. When she's not talking about writing, she can often be found researching and writing about banned books or Victorian medicine and popular culture while trying to keep her two young cats entertained.

Welcome to The Lark Network

Do you get a bit nervous when networking?

Do you want to have relaxed conversations with other women who understand the difficulties of starting a business?

Are you looking for a community to support your startup or freelancing journey?

The Lark Network is just what you’re looking for!

The Lark Network is a group of women and non-binary folx who meet monthly for informal networking over tea and coffee.

If you're new to Lark, here's what you can expect from our events...

😊 A relaxed environment with informal conversations where you can get to know other women who work for themselves

🙂 A friendly group of women who understand that self-employment or starting a business can be tough, especially if you face additional challenges in life.

👶 Child-friendly networking with activities to keep the kids occupied (including all the fabulous books in the children's section of the library!)

☕️ Free tea, coffee and light snacks funded by the Portsmouth Community Lottery fund.

⏰ We don't do "late"! Drop in any time between 11:30am and 1:30pm - we understand life gets busy so don't stress if you're not there for the 'start'!

We do things a bit differently at Lark.

You won’t be asked to do your elevator pitch (although if you want help perfecting it, we’ll be more than happy to help!). We’re not about pushy sales.

We believe in giving you the time and space to build genuine connections with other women, allowing you to create a real support network.

We're a supportive community where you can ask for help.

We don’t feel you should have to choose between your business and your babies, so children are welcome to attend.

Our networking is completely free to access. However, you can help keep our services low or no cost for the women who need them by making a donation to The Lark Network.

Startup Sunday is funded by the Portsmouth Community Lottery

We're delighted to have received funding from the Portsmouth Community Lottery Fund. This enables us to offer free tea, coffee and light bites to eat at each event.

Our Venue: Southsea Library

We're excited to have a fully accessible, family-friendly venue for our network.

We meet in Southsea Library on Palmerston Road, Southsea.

You can find out more about the library here: Southsea Library Website

Want something to do with your little ones before the networking?
