Statistics for Assessors
Aims of the Course:
The course aims to examine the patterns of scores obtained in standardised tests for
SpLD and to consider what these scores really mean, both for the learner and in statistical terms
Specialist teachers who are carrying out, or who want to carry out, full diagnostic assessments for the identification of dyslexia (SpLD).
This Course will address the essential skills and practice to:
Understand the standard scores, scaled scores and percentiles produced from assessments;
Be able to use significant differences between scores;
Be able to incorporate this information in to diagnostic assessment reports in a meaningful way.
You will leave with:
A better understanding of the statistics of the assessment process, and the knowledge to recognise whether a difference is statistically significant, and if so what this means for the learner.

Thursday 25th May 2017, 4.00pm-6.30pm
