Event description

Description

Steeking uses a bridge of waste stitches to enable you to work entirely in the round in situations where ordinarily you couldn’t, eg when working armholes or making a cardigan. It is particularly useful for stranded colourwork, because purled colourwork is typically slow and difficult compared to colourwork that is knitted on the right side. Many knitters are nervous of cutting the waste stitches in a steek. This class will assist you to overcome that nervousness, giving you the confidence to steek anything!

In class you will learn:
A variety of steeking stitch patterns.
How to set a steek before cutting it.
Several options for reinforcing a steek.
How to pick up stitches from a steeked opening.
How to apply icord to a steeked opening.
Options for finishing a steek.
