About this event

Join our weekly steel band beginner workshops where you can learn to play steel pan music with Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra - RASPO.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have played before, our steel pan workshops are the place to be on Tuesday evenings 5.30-6.30pm in Reading.

Our friendly music tutors welcome you to the CultureMix Arts & Music Centre for a family friendly experience guaranteeing lots of fun and enjoyment for all.

Learn about steel pans, develop your playing technique and improve your music knowledge. These workshops are the entry point to a range of music activity with CultureMix Arts. As your skills develop there will be opportunities to join the orchestra for performances at carnivals, festivals and events.

Families and all ages are welcome and no previous music experience is needed. All instruments and equipment provided.

Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

The workshop space is up a small flight of stairs so is not currently wheelchair accessible.

Can I join the course at any time?

We welcome newcomers during the first 2 weeks of each course. If you miss the first 2 sessions, you can join the next course. `look out for dates on our website or on Eventbrite.

Where is the nearest parking?

Broad Street Mall car park is the nearest, with Civic B car park also nearby. CultureMix Arts & Music Centre is in central Reading and also easily accessible on public transport using Reading Buses or a 10 minute walk from Reading train station.
