A Whole Heap of Mix Up contains reflections from a life lived in the struggle by black British feminist and activist, Stella Dadzie. Stella Dadzie has been a key figure in the black women’s movement in Britain since the 1970s. This unique new collection showcases her personal, political and creative writing, covering themes from her family life and early years of political activism, travel in Africa and the Caribbean, and race and gender inequalities in Britain. Stella’s previous works include A Kick in the Belly: Women, Slavery & Resistance (Verso, 2020) and The Heart of the Race: Black Women’s Lives in Britain (Virago, 1985 & Verso, 2018).
The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) are delighted to host Stella Dadzie in Glasgow for a discussion thinking about her life, her work and anti-racist activism then and now. Stella will also give a short reading from the new book.
