Description

Induction session for new applicants for the STEM Ambassadors programme – please ensure you have registered before attendance.


The induction session will include

  • An introduction to and understand the UK'S STEM agenda and relevance for STEM Ambassadors
  • Information about the range of activities you will have the chance to support.
  • How to access further training and resources
  • Tips on how to work effectively with schools and young people
  • Classroom scenarios
  • Some hands on activities; and
  • Feel welcomed as as a STEM Ambassador volunteer!

Attendance at an induction session is compulsory for all new STEM Ambassadors.

Location

Unless specified, all induction sessions will be held at the University of Brighton, Moulsecoomb Campus, Lewes Road, Brighton BN2 4GJ, in the following building/room:

  • Monday 18th September - 5pm-7pm - Watts building, room 507.
  • Thursday 2nd November - HOLD THE DATE - Planned combined induction and training session from the Operational Research Society. Make an afternoon of it!

Directions/Parking

Parking at the University is very limited during the day and you are advised to take public transport where possible (we are located next to Moulsecoomb train station). The university operates a permit/pre-book only policy, 7am-3pm Mon-Fri in term time. Cars parked without a permit during these times may be issued a penalty notice and STEM Sussex can accept no responsibility for this.

Friday 8th and Monday 18th September sessions - no permits required (out of University term time). You may park in any normal bay in either the Watts or Mithras car parks, however these will be limited.


What to Bring

Please bring with you the ID needed to complete your DBS check. This is usually a passport or UK driving license AND two other items such as a bill and a bank statement, at least one of which must show your current address.
