Event description

Description

New STEM Ambassadors are warmly invited to this STEM Ambassador introduction which will provide you with all the information you need to know about being a STEM Ambassador volunteer.

Introduction Session: 6pm-7pm

DBS checks available before and after from 5.30-6.00 or 7.00-7.30 and take approx 10 minutes..

Over 30,000 STEM Ambassadors from over 2,500 different employers, volunteer their time to encourage and inspire young people aged 5-19 to achieve more and progress further in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

This introduction session will be a fun and engaging session where participation is encouraged and where we work to support you in making the most out of your skill set and experience.

What do I need to prepare before the introduction session?

1. Register as a STEM Ambassador at www.stem.org.uk

NB: you’ll be prompted to upload a photo when you register. The photo should be a passport photo or similar (minimum 378 x 495 pixels) showing your whole face (you're allowed to smile!).

2. Complete your STEM Ambassador Induction on-line.

Please ensure you have completed your online induction here.

3. Complete your online DBS Application:

Once you are registered as a STEM ambassador you'll be sent an email invitation to complete a DBS application.

4. Collate your three pieces of required supporting ID documentation:

Please ensure you bring all the documentation so that we can complete your DBS application on the day.

What documentation do I need to bring for my DBS check?

For most people, we can complete a DBS check with the following three documents:

  1. Passport (currently valid)
  2. Driving licence (full or provisional)
  3. Letter with proof of your current address (usually a bank statement or utility bill from the last 3 months or a council tax statement or p60 from the last 12 monthsl)

Important: Please note we MUST see the originals of all of your documentation, and cannot accept scanned, downloaded or photocopied documents (e.g. we cannot accept online banking statements that have been printed off). Please contact us if you require help.

If you're not able to bring these three documents, then please click here to find the full list of documents you can bring. (also available on page 12 of the guidance notes linked above).

Please note: the address on the document you use for proof of current address MUST be the same as the one on the DBS application.

If you are attending for DBS checks only, please arrive at the beginning of the meeting, many thanks.
