Event description

Description

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is the Scottish Government’s national strategy for strengthening links between businesses and education with the headline aim of reducing youth unemployment by 40% by 2021.

The Scottish Government supports up to 21 industry-led DYW Regional Groups across Scotland and, in our Ambassador Hub region, there are 6 Regional groups - Argyll & Bute, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway and West Region. The groups aim to encourage and support employers to engage directly with schools and colleges; and challenge and support employers to recruit more young people into their workforce.

Led by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, DYW Glasgow builds on the recommendations of the Youth Employment Action Group with the key focuses being on strengthening industry engagement with education and increasing employment opportunities for young people in the city.

STEM Ambassadors and DYW - a formidable force!

A number of our STEM Ambassadors work for companies already committed to DYW and participate regularly in events such as DYW Business Breakfasts, Careers events, large scale events for construction, engineering or STEM related careers, Modern Apprenticeship events and also offer valuable Work placements.

However, we know that many of our STEM Ambassadors are unaware of the opportunities available for their companies to work with their local DYW group. Science Connects is pleased to invite you to :
