Event description

Description

This event has been posponed and will take place later in 2016

The Event

The Game Lab brings together teams of skilled games developers and leading research scientists. The challenge is to work together over a period of 48 hours to incorporate the latest stem cell science into a completely new and playable game!

The event starts with a tour of our laboratories and a crash course in stem cell science (no prior knowledge required!). We hope that participants will be inspired by the ground-breaking research that we do and will be able bring their creativity and technical expertise to showcase our work in an original format. Equally, our researchers will appreciate the opportunity to learn some games basics.

We hosted our first Game Lab in 2015 and are currently working with the winning team to produce their proposed game! This year the event is part of the MRC Festival of medical research, celebrating medical research all around the UK.

Judging:

A panel of judges, including scientific & games industry experts will award two prizes:

1) Best Game
2) Best Scientific Content

In addition to individual prizes on the day, we may choose to work with any of the entered teams to develop their concept further.

Tech  Info:
There will be a range of games consoles and screens available to test games, but participants should bring their own laptops.

Refreshments:
Thanks to generous support from the Medical Research Council, we will be able to offer all participants a great selection of drinks, snacks, meals and other comforts – to keep the creative juices keep flowing!

Registration:
Places are limited so you must register here to be guaranteed entry.
