Chemistry - Solving the World’s Problems: This interactive talk outlines the central role played by chemistry in tackling some of the most pressing problems of our time. In order to reduce the impacts of climate change, we need to develop sustainable sources of energy, and chemistry lies at the heart of many potential solutions. In medicine, chemistry holds the key to designing and producing drugs that will enable us to meet the challenge of beating diseases and improving our quality of life in the future. The talk will include highlights of the some of the research carried out at the University of Southampton to tackle these challenges. You’ll be able to respond to questions throughout the talk through in-session voting, so have your phone handy.

Engineering: Explore our facilities where we develop cutting edge solutions for noise control, immersive 3D audio and vibration, including the largest anechoic chamber in any UK university! You’ll hear from our world-leading experts on the very latest developments in research and teaching in your field.

Electronics and Computer Science: Revolutionising the world one click at a time…This is an interactive session which discusses the major contributions computer science and electronics and its impact on the world today. There is a major focus on:

1. ChatGPT and why it matters.

2. The second Focuses on the area of digital forensics.

You will also have a tour of our world leading Electronics and Computer Science labs, which have recently undergone a major refurbishment.

Physics: Our facilities, key partnerships in industry, and research community have given us a strong reputation in the fields of astronomy, quantum, light and matter, and theoretical particle physics. We are dedicated to high quality teaching and have invested heavily in our research groups and equipment to maintain our status as one of the best places in the world to work in the fields of physics and astronomy.

Maths: Our research, ranges from the optimum delivery of healthcare, to the stability of electricity networks. Our academics are working at the forefront of their fields, and this is reflected in the quality of our teaching. With more than 60 active research and training links with industry, we give our students the opportunity to specialise in areas of direct interest to future employers.

You will have plenty of opportunity to talk to our students about what is it like studying at Southampton and how they have navigated the transition into Higher Education at a Russell Group institution.

These events are a great opportunity to ask current undergraduates questions about the advice and guidance your students might be looking for, including around the application process, and living away from home.

We know that you really value the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and network, so we have built plenty of time in to the agenda to facilitate those valuable conversations.

This conference takes place at our Highfield campus, and we are delighted to be able to offer limited complimentary overnight accommodation and an evening meal to those who have traveled from further afield. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
