Event description

Description

This event is perfect for children aged 7 - 14, with a whole range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical activites to keep them entertained. We'll also have a panel of local STEM experts at 1pm who'll be sharing what they do and how they got in to the job they have now. Drop in any time from 10am - 2pm. We ask that children are accompanied by an adult (we know that you'll have just as much fun as the kids!).

What will be there?

  • House of Objects will be here to inspire and guide the childrens creative ideas.

  • Neil from Big Bang Science Party invites you to don your white coat and discover your inner scientist with a range of scientific experiments on offer throughout the day.

  • Have a play with the BBC Micro:bit and see what games and displays you can create.

  • Create your own animations and games using Scratch.

  • Design and make your own keyring at The FabLab

  • Build your own BristleBot and racecourse with BristleBot Races

  • Minecraft with Raspberry Pi's

  • Learn how to build and code Robots with Success 4 All

  • Drone Lab

  • Plus more...

Where?

We're holding our event at the The Word, NE33 1JF - parking is available onsite.

When?

Saturday 5th May from 10am - 2pm*. This is a drop-in session so feel free to pop along at any time. Activities will run until 1pm, followed by a STEM panel conversation with local people working in the industry, as a chance for children to learn more about the types of jobs available in STEM right here on our doorstep!
