Event description

Description

An introduction to media engagement for STEM researchers at the University of Birmingham.

Hosted by the University of Birmingham Press Office, this Lunch & Learn session will help you to discover the benefits of engaging the media with your research, learn more about what science journalists are looking for, and find out how the University Press Office can help you to raise your profile.

The session includes a guest presentation by freelance science journalist Richard Gray. Having worked as a science journalist for the past 15 years, including eight years at The Sunday Telegraph, Richard has experience writing about STEM research for a huge range of publications.

You will also hear from fellow STEM academics, Professor Anna Whittaker (LES) and Dr Nick Hawes (EPS), who will share their own experiences of working with the media.

A free buffet lunch will be served throughout the session. Places are limited, so booking is essential.
