Step Back in Time with Charles Lapworth: Dynamic Earth
Overview
Travel back to the year 1920 with us. Birmingham is a large industrial city and the University of Birmingham leads the way in scientific research.
Years after retirement, Professor Charles Lapworth continues to share his knowledge and wisdom in lectures given to the academic community. This time he'll give a lecture exploring our powerful, dynamic Earth, accompanied by lantern slides depicting erupting volcanoes and reverberations of colliding tectonic plates. You will truly feel as if you have stepped back into a 1920s lecture!
Then a panel of modern-day experts from the University of Birmingham will discuss how science has helped to evolve our understanding of Earth dynamics along with a Q&A with the audience.
Join us for an immersive evening of volcanoes, earthquakes, 20th century teaching aids, history, and rumblings of the Roaring Twenties. Period dress strongly encouraged!
