Step By Step Guide to Better Book Readings
Sat 29 April 2017, 09:00 – 13:00 BST
As an independent author, you have been to book readings and heard some amazing stories that have been read wonderfully. You would love to do one yourself. You might write beautifully but you’re not a natural performer. I can help you with that.
You wish you could tell more people about your work. I imagine you think that more people would buy your book if only they had heard a little bit of it.
But you feel awful at the prospect of reading your book in public.
You’re probably thinking
What if they don’t like it?
What if I make a mistake?
I don’t know what to read?
I don’t like the sound of my own voice
I am an introvert and I don’t like reading out loud?
What happens if you don’t deal with this fear of book readings? More time passes with few book sales, hardly anyone knows about your book, you have to stay in the job you hate rather than get the life you want.
How do I know these things?
Because I have been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. I have conquered these challenges. Plus I have helped a lot of other people do the same.
‘I never knew teachers like you existed. You are absolutely priceless...thanks for everything.’
‘Over all the years you were the one who helped me grow in confidence. Thanks.’
‘Thanks for everything; you are a brilliant teacher who has taught and encouraged me so much.’
‘You’ve helped me so much by understanding me.’
‘You are an excellent teacher who is so understanding and kind.’
So I know it is possible to:
Enjoy book readings. With the skills in place, you will go out and actually enjoy doing your book reading
Feel happy reading in public. You have overcome a major challenge. It wasn’t easy but you did it
The fact you don’t like reading in public is not your fault. Lots of people don’t like it. Numerous things happen to us in life that conspires to make public performance one of the most difficult things most of us ever do.
That is why I developed the Step by Step Guide to Book Readings Course. Once you have done this course you will change from being afraid of public reading to feeling:
Understanding. You never realised how much detail there was to support your readings.
Surprise. You thought that it would take a long time but in 4 hours your book reading skills have developed with so many ideas that made the story come to life.
Excitement at the thought of reading in public. You will be ready to perform at an author book reading event and maybe you have spoken to me about being there to support you.
Confidence. You know what you are doing
Relaxed. You are not confident at public speaking and It takes away the stress of reading your work in public and helps you feel confident that your writing engages your audience.
What is holding you back?
Maybe you are not confident in public speaking.
What do you do?
This is where I come in - I will develop your reading and performance skills to help you to read better in public.
Remember: You are not alone.
It’s a partnership where we work together and in groups to fine-tune your reading skills until you are confident to ‘perform’.
This is for writers who want an experienced teacher who can help them develop their work ready for performance.
