TOPIC: The Lifecycle of a Trust

SPEAKERS: Alexander Hawkins, Mourant and Zac Hanley, Saffery Trust

Aimed at students, trainees and junior staff.

This presentation will provide a general overview of the lifecycle of a trust in Guernsey, with an emphasis on the practical application of key concepts within the workplace.

Alexander and Zac will discuss the following:

• What is a trust?
• Key documentation
• The main players
• The duties and powers of a trustee
• Trustee decision making
• Terminations and Trustee resignations
• Minute taking
• Common pitfalls including lending

This presentation will be aimed at a junior to intermediate level. It will not be a "back-to-basics" seminar.

STEP warmly extends the invitation to register for this event, which will begin with a 45-minute presentation, after which attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers and direct any questions to the speaker in a relaxed, casual environment.

Pizzas (with special dietary options) and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages will be provided.

Approximate timings:

• 4.30-4.45pm: Arrival and registration
• 4.45pm: Welcome from STEP Next Gen and presentation, with time for Q&A
• 5.30pm-6.00pm: Pizza and drinks, attendees are warmly encouraged to stay

The presentation will last for approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by the opportunity to network and/or ask questions. Food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided as part of the ticket price.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are transferable to another STEP member or colleague on the day but they are non-refundable unless there is a waiting list and 48 hours notice is given.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, we are able to take names at registration so you don't have to bring your ticket.

Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, tickets are transferable to a colleague if you find yourself unable to attend.13th November
