Description

Our STEP admissions preparation course offers excellent tutoring and guidance for the STEP papers sat in June. This is a 5 week course arranged as weekly 4 hour sessions.

Students have the option of doing a single day or the entire course (topics covered are offered below).

Entire course - 20 hours of tuition

Single day - 4 hours of tuition

NOTE TO STUDENTS:

Every year our instructors choose a country to highlight its vast contribution to Mathematics by naming their STEP SESSIONS after some of the greatest Mathematicians from that specific country. The Mathematicians are selected based on their work and contribution to the specific topic being taught. This year the instructors have chosen France. It is also a reminder that the study of Mathematics and its many accomplishments and contributions to the modern world is and always has always been a wonderfully global effort.

A Word About The Course Preparation

All our instructors are top percentile scorers with several years of full-time teaching experience and track records of continual success. Our STEP team is comprised of two instructors who graduated with 4 year degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge respectively. Both instructors are involved in designing the STEP course. Beyond content, they focus on strategies and techniques that help students improve their scores. Customised handouts divided into topics are curated by the instructors to provide structure and flow for students. Without a doubt, admissions test scores are a vital component that will determine whether a candidacy is successful.

The Lead Instructor in the Classroom

Our lead instructor has many years of experience tutoring Maths and preparing students for admissions tests, having worked for several top-end tuition agencies for 8 years. He teaches mathematics at a private school in west London, and runs "Maths Circles" - conversational maths groups for exploring maths outside the school syllabus. Prior to his degree he taught himself extra modules of maths (M4, M5, and D1) so that he took 15 modules in total.

Beyond the classroom, he is involved in several other education-related activities. He runs a podcast on education called Education Bookcast which surveys research on education; and he is also developing educational software to help people perfect their accents in foreign languages.

In his spare time, he enjoys learning foreign languages, and currently speaks seven conversationally, including Mandarin and Persian.

He holds an undergraduate and masters degree from the University of Cambridge (Trinity College).

Why A Group Format

We believe in the benefits of small group study. It allows for differing approaches and knowledge to be shared broadening one’s understanding of a subject and enhancing thinking skills. In our experience, group study also boosts individual motivation and confidence. It removes the “scariness” of the process reminding students that learning should be creative and enjoyable.

Please note that Step Into My Shoes contracts with Imperial College for the use of facilities but has no formal connection with Imperial College. Students need to have parental permission to sign up for this course.

We need a minimum number of students to run this course.
