About this Event

Join us in recognising Stephen Lawrence Day 2021 and discussing whether systemic racism has moved on and the way forward.

Let us work together in “…creating a society in which everyone can flourish.”

This online event is hosted by UNISON Manchester Branch.

The following guest speakers have been confirmed:

  • Stuart Lawrence Diversity, Inclusion, Grief, Youth Engagement Specialist
  • Professor Geoff Thompson MBE FRSA DL Youth Charter Founder and Chair
  • Professor Gus John Education and Human Rights Campaigner
  • Rena Wood Assistant Branch Secretary UNISON Manchester and NW Region Deputy Convenor

Stuart Lawrence’s new book ‘Silence is Not an Option’ launched on 1 April 2021.

This event is supported by North West UNISON Black Members.

“In UNISON, Black is used to indicate people with a shared history. Black with a capital ‘B’ is used in its broad political and inclusive sense to describe people in Britain that have suffered colonialism and enslavement in the past and continue to experience racism and diminished opportunities in today’s society.”
